Merino Wool Nursing Bra by Boob Design Review

The Warming Wool Nursing Bra & Singlet by Boob Designs are the only merino nursing bras I have been able to find to-date. The bra’s are made in Portugal, responsibly produced, and certified Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX. The benefits of merino wool (see The top 8 reasons to love merino wool) are even more useful during a time when your body undergoes so many changes.

FIT: I measured according to the size chart and the fit was sufficient. However, because I am in my third trimester of pregnancy it felt a little tight. I contacted customer service at Figure 8 Maternity to get measurements on the next size and ended up ordering the larger size. I feel like there’s still enough room to tighten if my ribs shrink back after baby. The stage you are in, whether pregnancy or already nursing, may affect the size you want but the free shipping and returns make it very easy to get the proper fit. It is 80% merino wool, 14% polyamide and 6% elastane, and offers ‘soft support’ without any cup padding.

COMFORT: I have purposefully worn this bra for several days in a row in very warm/humid temperatures to test out the merino qualities. And true to merino’s qualities, it did not have any smell. I also noticed that I hardly sweat when compared to other bras. The singlet will be wonderful in the cooler weather for nursing to offer coverage and warmth. It stretches to accommodate a growing belly and can certainly be worn throughout pregnancy.

DURABILITY: The bra and singlet feature adjustable straps, nickel-free details and cups that un-clip one handed very easily. I have no complaints after wearing this continuously for several weeks.

EASE OF CARE: Can be washed on wool cycle and air dried, wool detergent is recommended. (see my suggestions)

CONCLUSION:

**Updated after wearing continuously for 6 weeks postpartum. Both items are immensely comfortable and easy to use for nursing. I have only laundered due to leaked milk and after wearing for several days in a row they have never had an odor**

  • The only merino wool nursing bra & singlet I have found
  • Only offers soft support and only available in black
  • Can be purchased from Figure 8 Maternity which offers free shipping & free returns (US only)
