MABLI merino wool knitwear review

MABLI is Welsh clothing brand that offers natural fibers knitwear for babies and children, size 0-12 years. Using merino wool, pima cotton, linen, and most recently alpaca, they are created with a versatile fit and designed for longevity. Founded by Lisa Roberts in 2016 while she was expecting her second child, MABLI is a slow-fashion brand offering wardrobe staples and clothing inspired by Welsh designs and patterns. MABLI products are made across Europe using high quality materials by manufacturers and suppliers that use ethical working practices.

I received a small discount in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. (This post may also include some affiliate links for your convenience, click here to read my full disclosure policy)
FIT:  I purchased a size 12 months rib top and size 6 months rib pants for my then 2.5 month old daughter.  At 2 months the sleeves were cuffed a couple times, the top covered her bottom, and the pants were cuffed once but I did not think that they looked odd that way. Now as we are approaching 12 months the sleeves are still cuffed slightly and the pants are more like capris but still able to be worn due to the stretchy nature of the rib knit. I am extremely impressed with the longevity of the style and sizing. And as a reference my daughter is more above average in size. I would say the sizes run fairly true to size and maybe slightly generous although sizing up will only ensure a longer length of wear.  It is not often one can say a piece of clothing fit for almost the entire first year of their baby’s life. They rib knit pants also work very well over cloth diapers. Compared to other rib knit merino pants I have tried, these retain their shape and do not get baggy.

COMFORT: The rib knit is luxuriously soft and squishy and provides a thicker layer of temperature regulating merino compared to a typical base layer.  The wide waist band on the pants keeps them in place well without being too tight and the envelope neck makes dressing and undressing much easier.
DURABILITY: My only reservation of the MABLI knits is in regards to the durability. I had one small hold develop in the pants, which was puzzling since she was not even mobile yet. It was however, easy to mend and hide because of the rib knit. I would certainly purchase again for another baby but unsure how these would hold up to my rough and tumble boy, especially the pants.

EASE OF CARE: The rib knits are machine washable on cool, however, I have only hand washed and air dried them. (See How to Wash Wool) They do pill slightly but you could always remove those with a shaver.
CONCLUSION: If you are looking for a versatile, long lasting and luxurious merino beyond the typical base layer set MABLI is a perfect option. Their quality and ethics make them a brand that is easy to support. MABLI knits can be purchased HERE.
